There proved to be an enormous volume of scientific literature on the subject. It is easy to lose oneself in the countless details included in the descriptions of this process.
The 4-step approach and the systems biological method make it possible to examine physiological and pathological processes in terms of the processes themselves. This results in a characterization of the various phases of the wound healing process. Out of this, new insights into the origin of health and disease emerged that also offer promising leads for medical practice.
